Social Media and Health Communications Internship

In a world where super foods, cancer cures, and magic weight loss tricks are plastered across the internet, the skills to effectively communicate health information is an increasingly important one. This position will give hands-on experience in evidence-based health communication with a special focus on diet, exercise, and cancer. As part of our cancer research and lifestyle medicine lab, this assistant will be actively working to help individuals and communities feel empowered to make healthier choices and identify misinformation. The ideal candidate will be innovative and passionate about social media and it’s potential to positive impact the community.

• 5-10 hours per week, schedule flexible, ideal for student
• Hybrid (remote + occasional in-person meetings)
• Under supervision of CRANE Lab manager
• Internships can vary from one semester to several years, summer hours are available

• Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms and social media management tools
• Excellent social listening skills
• Ability to understand historical, current, and future trends in the digital content and social media space as it relates to health communications
• Top-notch oral and verbal communication skills
• Strong copywriting and copy-editing skills
• Impeccable time management skills with the ability to multitask

• Direct experience using social media management tools (Facebook, Indeed, Twitter, Loomly, LinkedIn)
• Proficiency with Canva or similar graphic design and editing tools
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook etc.)
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent digital media editing tools a plus.

• Students working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in health communication, marketing, or health-related field preferred but majors in any area are welcome to apply
