What does it mean to “Eat the Rainbow?”
A balanced diet should include a variety of colorful plant-based foods rich in phytochemicals. Phyto is Greek for “plant.” Phytochemicals are found in plant sources of food and play a vital role in a healthy diet. They are found in fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains, herbs and spices. They add to the smell, color and flavor of the plant. Different colors of plant-based foods tend to provide different phytochemicals.
Phytochemicals have cancer fighting properties. What do we mean by anticancer properties?

Cancer cells have uncontrolled cell growth. Phytochemicals help inhibit cancerous cell growth and help protect cells from DNA damage.
