Fasting InTervention for ENDOmetrial cancer (FIT-ENDO)
The FIT-ENDO study is a clinical trial investigating how prolonged overnight fasting might benefit women with endometrial cancer. Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecologic cancer in the United States, with approximately 68,000 women diagnosed each year and incidence rising by about 1% annually. Obesity and metabolic dysregulation are major risk factors, as they can lead to higher estrogen levels and insulin resistance, both implicated in cancer development. This randomized controlled trial will evaluate whether extending the nightly fasting period can improve metabolic markers and outcomes for women scheduled for endometrial cancer surgery. The study aims to assess the feasibility of this approach and its potential effects on metabolic biomarkers and patient-reported outcomes, with participants randomized in a 2:1 ratio between the intervention and control groups.
